Back to school nightmare
This morning I woke up at 6am after having a back to school nightmare. It must be all of the ads on the radio that got my subconcious thinking about this.
I’ve been out of school for almost 4 years now, but when September comes around, I still get that feeling of anticipation, finding my new schedule, seeing what kind of profs I have, who my classmates are.
This morning’s nightmare was one of the worst fears I had in schoool, public speaking. It was the first day of school, and for some reason I was signed up for an English class. In all of my 4-1/2 years at University, I took one official English class, the other English related ones were technical writing, which an Engineer is much more comfortable with. At the end of that class, we were given an assignment to write an advertisement that we would present to the class. The teacher could see my fear, and she decided that I would be the first person to do the presentation.
Fortunately I woke up at this point and avoided any more terror.

RIP Honest Ed
Toronto’s Honest Ed Mirvish dies
Toronto’s iconic shopkeeper turned theatre impresario and philanthropist, Ed Mirvish, has died at the age of 92.He died early Wednesday morning of natural causes, his family confirmed.
Although I’ve never been to Toronto, I have heard about Honest Ed’s from several different people, and it’s even been shown on one of my favourite shows, Food Jammers. It’s sad to see him go, and I hope his family continues his traditions.
CBC.CA – Seven Wonders of Canada
#5 Road in Richmond was nominated for the Seven Wonders of Canada. Interesting choice, I guess they had too many natural wonders.
CBC.CA – Seven Wonders of Canada – Your Nominations – Number 5 Road, British Columbia
We received hundreds of nominations that spoke to the spirit of multiculturalism and co-operation in Canada. Whether for a French Immersion school that preserved both official languages, the world’s longest unguarded border, an ultra cooperative merge lane on the Lions Gate Bridge, the diversity of Kensington Market or, as in this nomination, a strip of road in Richmond BC that represents the multi-faith community in that area, it’s clear that Canadians do mostly “just get along.” Maybe this fact is a wonder in itself!

Bathroom close to being finished.
Our bathroom renos are progressing.
Over the weekend, Tracy’s dad and I got the molding in, and put the washer/dryer back into the laundry room. We’ve got space in the living room again!
This coming weekend, the plumber is coming by to install the sink and toilet, and tap into the water lines. A big job, and we wanted a professional to do it.
After that, it’s all nitpicky stuff, hanging the towel racks and cabinets, touching up the paint.
