I usually keep track of my gas mileage quite closely, although I don’t worry about it too much when I’m racing. My car has more than enough torque to haul around a full tank of gas, so I generally fill up the day before or the morning of a race.
I filled up on Friday at a full service gas station in Coquitlam. I didn’t have a choice since Coquitlam requires all gas stations to be full service to help youth employment.
So on Sunday I’m racing, and I realize that my car smells like gas… not so good. I look under the hood, nothing wrong, then I find the problem: the gas cap was cross-threaded and gas was spilling out the tank.

But on the bright side, it was an amazing day for racing, slightly overcast, but reasonable temperature, and I dropped about 2 seconds every run. It still didn’t bring me close to FTD but it was a lot of fun anyway.
Another Slush Series autocross at Pitt Meadows.
It was cold, rainy, and miserable. My best time was my 3rd run of the day, for the rest of the afternoon I ended up facing backwards on the track, at the exact same point on the course. ![]()
FTD was a stock Miata running regular all seasons!

I was a little slow on this blog, but now it’s done, and things seem to be working properly!
