A Blogging Good Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone!

Well this year has been an interesting one and I never expected that I would be posting to my blog on Christmas morning.  Tracy had a night shift last night so she’s sleeping right now, so we’ll be opening presents this afternoon when she wakes up.

Last night I had a great dinner at Erik’s house (his family is Danish so they do their Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve).  We had pork roast with crackle (yum!), potatoes, red cabbage, and brocolli casserole.  For dessert, we had rice pudding, and the Danish tradition is to hide an whole almond in the pudding and whoever finds it in their bowl wins a prize.  Mike found it but swallowed it by accident!  Ooops!  Erik’s mom sent a container of the pudding (complete with whole almond) home for me to give to Tracy, but she hasn’t discovered it yet…

As usual, I’ve been given the task of making brocolli casserole, which is cooling on the stove as I speak.  I’ll put it in the oven to bake so it’s ready in time for us to leave for my sister’s house.  Every year I say to myself that I’m going to make a different recipe, and every year I forget to find a good one.  Next year, I promise!

Jim Carrey on Conan O’Brien

Jim Carrey’s appearance on Conan O’Brien has to be one of the funniest late night shows I have ever seen.  The two of them were bouncing back and forth and it just got better after every joke.  Normally I find Jim Carrey annoying (Fire Marshall Bill) but this time he didn’t just depend on his rubber face to get the laughs.  He was on to promote Fun with Dick and Jane, which looks like a pretty good movie.  I think a lot of people will end up seeing it when they can’t get in to King Kong, but they’ll end up enjoying it.

And then, just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Isaac Hayes is the musical guest, and he does a ‘Shaft’ tribute to Conan.  The Max Weinburg 7 played with the band, and you could tell that they were having a great time with the music.
