New phone from Sony Ericsson

The AU W31S is a new phone/camera/mp3 player.

The flip out camera lens reminds me of the Olympus cameras, and the flip out keypad looks pretty neat too!

Why I like Linux

You’ll never see this in an MS document:

From Rusty’s Unreliable Guide To Locking:

Deadlocks are problematic, but not as bad as data corruption. Code which grabs a read lock, searches a list, fails to find what it wants, drops the read lock, grabs a write lock and inserts the object has a race condition.

If you don’t see why, please stay the fuck away from my code.

Darren Barefoot calls this a ‘mashup’ between Google Maps and craigslist. I know that Google Maps has exposed their API for this sort of development, but I’m interested to see how craigslist deals with this. They haven’t seemed too friendly about people ‘ripping’ their site content. See CLSearch for example.

I’m sure they’ll come around to encouraging things like this, because the value of craigslist has just been multiplied by Google Maps.
